I’m a writer, editor and photographer.
Most recently, I’ve been very proud to have written a piece on the Red-necked Phalarope for Red Sixty Seven. Published by the BTO, this important charity book has been curated by birder and conservationist Kit Jewitt, and is a collaboration between 67 nature writers and 67 wildlife artists. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of and extra funds for the conservation of the UK’s rarest and most endangered birds. Find out more and please do support this important project here.
An author of several books, I’ve also written for various magazines and newspapers, mostly on birds, the environment, history and popular science, as well as photography.
I work as an editor and editorial project manager for many leading publishers, on magazines, books and websites. My particular areas of expertise cover a wide range of fields, from wildlife, the environment and popular science to history, art history, and, perhaps incongruously, motoring and motorsport.
As a photographer, I specialise in landscape and travel photography and, as time allows, my passion of wildlife photography.
I volunteer in wildlife conservation for local charities, including the Sussex Ornithological Society, the Sussex Wildlife Trust and the RSPB. I also give talks, lead walks and run education events on birds, wildlife and the Arctic.
Please browse through these pages for examples of my work – I’ll be regularly adding more extracts from my published work, as well as new blog articles and images, over the coming months.
And if you’d like to discuss how I can help you, as a writer, editor, photographer, speaker or running an education event, then please do get in touch through the Contacts page.
